A New York City-based influencer, Katherine Asplundh, was accused of harassing an Instagram user over her username. The interaction was posted on social media platform Reddit's NYCinfluencersnark forum and has gone viral. The alleged screenshots show a woman, described as a small-time influencer, messaging the person to ask if she can purchase their username as Asplundh is her new married name.

"This just happened today. I use this account to post and archive photos I don’t want to post on my main account. I thought this was a scam at first. I would have given her my username for free but her attitude threw me off," the social media user posted, claiming she was 'harassed'.

"Hi congrats! That's my name too," the person says. They further add that they are not interested is selling their username due to Instagram's rules, which could have them banned.

The woman then says 'celebrities do it all the time', further adding that it is strage to come across another person with the same name - Katherine Asplundh. The user again refuses.

The alleged influencer then responds saying she does not believe the person's name is actually Katherine Asplundh and that she reported their account. The user is then accused of 'pretending to be someone'. The woman then says she is married into "the only Asplundh family in the US".

"If you were nice I would have considered giving it to you for free. But you weren't. I reported you for asking me to sell my account and another report for harassing me. Have a good day," the Instagram user writes back.

The entire controversey took a turn on Wednesday, when an X user with the same profile picture as the 'harassed' Instagram user, said: "This isnt me! my name is in my username lol she posted it on reddit."
