Kolar: A 17-year-old girl delivered a baby on campus at a private pre-university college in Kolar, Karnataka on Monday, said cops. “The girl, studying in class 11 delivered her baby in the women’s toilet.” The teen and her baby were shifted to a hospital. The girl’s parents, according to Indian Express, lodged a police complaint at Kolar Women’s Police Station. A police officer stated, “The girl and the boy were in a relationship for the last two years. It is unclear how the family failed to notice the pregnancy and why the teen hid this information.” A woman counsellor will speak to the girl later, as soon she recovers from the delivery, added the officer. A probe has been launched to apprehend the accused. A case has been registered under Section 6(aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act and Section 376 (2)(n) (commits rape repeatedly on the same woman) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The case was reported to the police after the introduction of new criminal laws, however, the alleged crime took place nine months ago. Hence, the new laws will not apply to this case, said a police officer.
