KL Rahul, Shami Out; Bumrah, Jadeja In: Complete Changes In India's 2024 T20 World Cup Squad From 2022

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) finally announced their squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup on Tuesday (April 30), with Rohit Sharma set to lead the team and star batter Virat Kohli included. The Men in Blue will aim to win the elusive trophy for the second time in history after lifting the title in the inaugural edition in 2007 under MS Dhoni's leadership.

The last 18 months saw a lot of discussion about the team changing their template in T20 cricket and building a younger team with a more fearless approach following the semi-final exit in the edition after a humilating 10-wicket defeat to England.

However, India's team is not a lot different from the one that traveled to Australia for the 2022 edition. The one big change comes in the top order as KL Rahul loses his spot after not playing a single T20I for India since the defeat in Adelaide. Yashasvi Jaiswal has earned a call-up, giving India a left-right combination at the top of the order as well as someone who bats at a high strike rate.

While Rishabh Pant's comeback means he is a similar face from the 2022 squad, there is a change in the second wicketkeeper, with Sanju Samson getting his first-ever call-up to the national team for an ICC event while Dinesh Karthik was not included, unlike in 2022.

In the bowling department, the big news comes in Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra's return after missing the last edition due to injuries. However, Mohammed Shami is sidelined due to an injury, while Bhunveshwar Kumar and Harshal Patel miss out.

Yuzvendra Chahal and Axar Patel retain their places in the squad, while Kuldeep Yadav will be the lead spinner this time, despite not being in contention in 2022.
