Ottawa: In a brazen provocation by Canada, Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun was invited by country's broadcaster on national television. Pannun, the general counsel of the banned group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), has been issuing open threats to India for a long time and is a designated terrorist.Pannun was seen speaking against the "Modi regime" and "Indian judicial system" calling it "biased" on Canada's national television. Further, he vowed to continue his Khalistani movement and claimed that "a US undercover was hired to assassinate him".This comes as a diplomatic row escalated between India and Canada on Tuesday over allegations of the Government of India's involvement in the killing of Canadian Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in June 2023. India announced withdrawing its high commissioner and other "targeted diplomats and officials" from Canada after strongly dismissing Ottawa's allegations linking the envoy to an investigation into the killing of Nijjar. Further, New Delhi also suspended six Canadian diplomates including Acting High Commissioner Stewart Ross Wheeler, Deputy High Commissioner Patrick Hebert, First Secretary Marie Catherine Joly, First Secretary Ross David Trites, First Secretary Adam James Chuipka and First Secretary Paula Orjuela.
Pannun Issues Threats To IndiaThe invitation to Pannun by the Canadian mouthpiece comes just days after he released a video declaring plans to spark independence movements in states beyond Punjab. In the video, Pannun unveiled a mission titled “SFJ 2024 ONE India To 2047 NONE India” in response to comments made by Canada's deputy minister for foreign affairs, David Morrison. In his latest video, Pannun extended his threats to other regions of India. The lawyer residing in New York City mentioned Jammu & Kashmir, Assam, Manipur and Nagaland as the next targets, vowing to instigate independence movements similar to the one in Punjab. His aim, as he said, is to "Balkanise the Union of India". “SFJ will continue to use the protection and support of Canadian and American laws to continue to campaign for independence movements to Balkanise and disintegrate the Union of India,” The Times of India quoted Pannun as saying in the video.Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a key leader of the Khalistan movement and legal adviser for SFJ, was declared a terrorist by India in 2020 for promoting secessionist activities. You may also like
