Jay Slater Update: Search For Missing British Teen In Tenerife Enters 4th Day Amid Growing Concerns

British national Jay Slater, 19, who went missing from the Spanish island of Tenerife on Monday (June 17) has not yet been found. A massive search operation is underway on the island, involving firefighters, drones, helicopters and rescue dogs to locate the missing teenager. Almost four days have passed since the disappearance, and Slater's mother, Debbie Duncan is desperately waiting for her 'baby to come back.'

Meanwhile, in a major update on the case, it was reported that Spanish law enforcement, Guardia Civil, has refused help from the British police in the efforts to locate the teenager. Notably, Slater was in Tenerife to attend the NRG music festival on June 16 (Sunday).

“They have confirmed that at this time they are satisfied that they have the resources they need, but that offer remains open and they will contact us should that position change,” a spokesperson of the Lancashire Police told The Independent.

As per the latest update in the search, reports indicate that the search party is focusing on the area from where Slater last made a phone call to his friend Monday. A friend of Slater has criticised the Spanish police's efforts to locate him, with no major progress made so far.

He took a long, 11-hour walk from the site of the festival to the Nuenavista del Norte bus stop, where he was last seen at around 8:00 a.m. on June 17. Police investigation revealed that he asked a shopkeeper at the bus stop twice about what time the bus arrived.

After that, he walked off towards the Rural de Teno Park - a rugged terrain on the island. He called a friend from there at around 8:50 a.m. and said that he was dehydrated and his phone's battery was about to die. After that, no trace has been found of Slater.

The Independent reported that there is no known reason why Slater took an 11-hour walk and how he ended up at a bus stop 27 miles from the location of the music festival. There is also no information on the people he spent time with at the festival. His stepfather told the press that he was not willing to go to the festival initially, but had to be convinced to do so.
