Europe is witnessing an array of severe weather conditions - from a meto-tsunami hitting Spain to a wildfire in Turkey. The French Alps experienced huge flash floods in the past week. A dramatic video surfaced on social media showing a huge wave hitting the road in the Balearic resort town of Puerto Alcudia, Spain. Similar visuals were seen on Friday after a meto-tsunami washed away sunbeds in Menorca earlier this week.

In Turkey, at least 11 people lost their lives and several were injured after a massive wildfire swept through villages, the country's healh minister said on Friday. Videos posted on social media showed flames raging over a large area and clouds of smoke clogging the sky.

Most of Turkey is in Asia, with a small part - mainly East Thrace region - is in southeast Europe.

Explaining the mini-tsunami in Spain, Met Office spokesperson Miquel Gili said: "Pressure variations affect sea level. If the pressure increases, the sea drops; if the pressure drops, the sea rises. In just 15 minutes the sea level can rise or fall very noticeably and then return to its normal state."
