Send Push

Diwali, the festival of lights, is a time of celebration, prosperity, and spiritual enlightenment. It is a tradition to light diyas during this festival, symbolising the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. According to Vastu Shastra, the ancient Indian science of architecture, there are certain guidelines on how and where to place these diyas to enhance positive energy in your home. In Diwali 2024, let’s ensure that you not only light diyas for their beauty but also do it the right way according to Vastu, to attract peace, happiness, and prosperity into your life.

1. The Ideal Time to Light DiyasOn Diwali, diyas are traditionally lit in the evening after sunset, around Pradosh Kaal (the time between sunset and nightfall). This is believed to be the most auspicious time to welcome the divine energies of Goddess Lakshmi into your home. Ensure that all your diyas are lit at this time to invite prosperity and happiness. 2. Use Clay Diyas for Positive EnergyVastu recommends using clay diyas as they are eco-friendly and help maintain a connection with the earth's natural elements. These traditional lamps represent purity and have the capacity to attract positive energy. You can decorate them with bright colours to add a festive touch and also increase the vibrancy of your space. 3. The Direction of DiyasAccording to Vastu, the direction in which you place your diyas plays a crucial role in channelling positive energies. The East direction is associated with new beginnings and positive energy, while the North is the direction of wealth and prosperity. East: Lighting diyas in the eastern direction of your home brings health, harmony, and peace.North: Place diyas here to attract prosperity and success, as this is the direction ruled by Kubera, the god of wealth.Northeast: Another auspicious direction where lighting diyas helps improve spiritual growth and mental clarity.Avoid placing diyas in the South direction, as it is considered less favourable according to Vastu Shastra. 4. Lighting Diyas at the Main EntranceOne of the most important places to light diyas during Diwali is at the main entrance of your home. This is considered the gateway for positive energy to enter. Vastu recommends lighting at least four diyas near the door, facing north or east, to symbolise protection and to welcome guests and divine energies alike. Place diyas on both sides of the entrance and make sure the door is well-lit to invite Goddess Lakshmi into your home. 5. Diyas in the Living RoomThe living room is where family members and guests gather, so lighting diyas here is important to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. According to Vastu, the best spot for diyas in the living room is the northeast corner, as it brings in positive vibrations and helps in creating a peaceful and joyous environment. 6. Diyas for the Puja RoomThe puja room is the heart of spiritual activities during Diwali. Vastu suggests lighting diyas on both sides of the deity, preferably on a brass or silver lamp stand for religious purposes. The light from these diyas should illuminate the entire room to cleanse it of negative energies. This brings divine blessings and enhances the spiritual aura of your home. 7. Diyas in the KitchenThe kitchen is associated with nourishment and well-being. Placing a diya in the southeast corner of the kitchen is recommended by Vastu, as this is the direction ruled by Agni, the god of fire. Lighting a diya here during Diwali ensures good health and an abundance in food. 8. Using Multiple Diyas for ProsperityTo maximize the flow of positive energy, light multiple diyas in different areas of your home. Each diya represents a different blessing, health, wealth, peace, and prosperity. Use an odd number of diyas, as odd numbers are considered auspicious according to Vastu. For example, you can light 5 or 7 diyas around your home for better results.
