New Delhi: For the residents of the national capital, air pollution is a constant battle that they fight every year but, every year, it has something to tell them that perhaps makes the situation worse. The constant discussion over has technically bore no fruit with the air quality index (AQI) breaching the 300 mark at a time when winter has not even arrived properly.Winter is known to be the time when air gets thicker and pollutant material stays in the environment for more time. However, the severity is again threatening the already ailing population. A recent study has now revealed that around 69% of families in Delhi-NCR has at least one member suffering from pollution-related ailments including sore throat, itchy eyes and cough.which saw minor deep on Friday and Saturday. A survey by LocalCircles has reported dire effects of the city's air pollution.
What Else Did Survey Say?According to the survey conducted by the digital platform, around 62% of families have one or more members experiencing burning eyes due to rising air pollution. On the other hand, at least 46 per cent have a family member with a runny nose or congestion.The survey said that with many already having cough and cold and some even suffering or already suffering from respiratory disorders like asthma, bronchitis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), "the severe or hazardous AQI levels post Diwali are likely to make things worse". The survey was done after collecting the responses from more than 21,000 residents across Delhi-NCR.It said that 31% of those surveyed said they have some sort of breathing difficulties or asthma, while a similar percentage of respondents mentioned having experienced headaches. Feelings of anxiety or trouble in concentration were reported by 23%.Meanwhile, 15% said that they have had difficulties with sleep.You may also like
