Chhattisgarh: 9 Dead, 23 Injured After Car Rams Into Parked Vehicle in Bemetara

Bemetara: In an incident on late Sunday night in Chhattisgarh's Bemetara district a collision between a goods vehicle and a truck claimed the lives of five women and three children, with 23 others sustaining injuries, according to authorities. The accident occurred near Kathia village, the victims were returning from a family gathering. The group, hailing from Patharra village, had been attending an event in Tiraiyya village before the accident took place.


According to the police, the goods vehicle collided with a parked mini truck along the roadside, resulting in the devastating crash. The deceased have been identified as Bhuri Nishad (50), Neera Sahu (55), Geeta Sahu (60), Agniya Sahu (60), Khushbu Sahu (39), Madhu Sahu (5), Rikesh Nishad (6), and Twinkle Nishad (6).

Efforts were swiftly made to provide medical assistance to the injured, who were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. Later, four critically wounded individuals were transferred to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Raipur for further medical treatment .

Ranveer Sharma, the Collector of Bemetara, confirmed the toll, stating that nine lives were lost in the accident, while emphasising the ongoing efforts to provide necessary support and medical aid to those affected.

Expressing condolences for the lives lost, BJP MLA Dipesh Sahu remarked, "It's a saddening road accident which has taken place in the district. A car rammed into a parked vehicle. Nine people have died in the incident. All the injured are admitted to the hospital for treatment. Those who are in serious condition have been admitted to Raipur AIIMS. We are with the families of the deceased. The administration is trying to provide all possible help."
