'A Gift To Bride & Groom': How 'Vote For Modi' Appeal On Wedding Card Invited Police Action

Send Push

A bride and groom has asked people attending their wedding to vote for Prime Minister Narendra Modi on their wedding card. This has costed the duo dearly. Uppinangadi police has registered a case against them.

In the wedding invitation letter, the bride and groom said, "This time again, making Narendra Modi the Prime Minister is a gift to the bride and groom. Because our future India must be secure." After this, police have registered a case against the duo after complaint issued by the officers of the Election Code of Conduct Enforcement Monitoring Team against the bridegroom.

Earlier, the father of a bridegroom in Telangana’s Sangareddy district made a unique request to the guests attending his son’s wedding when he asked them to not bring any gifts at the event. Instead, he made an appeal to the guests requesting them to vote for Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.

The invitation card features a photograph of PM Modi, with the message: "A vote for Narendra Modi will be the best gift you can give,” The Times of India said in a report.

Nandikanti Narsimlu and his wife Nandikanti Nirmala, celebrating the marriage of their only son, made the special appeal on the invitation card. Narsimlu, who hails from a village and supplies wooden materials for construction projects, opted to include a unique appeal on the wedding invitation card. He said that this decision was made as a token of regard for PM Modi.

Even though he had previously organised the weddings of his two daughters, he did not make any such appeals earlier. Speaking to TOI on Saturday while distributing the wedding invitation cards, Narsimlu said, “My family found the idea good and asked me to go ahead.”

In a similar ‘unusual’ request to the guests attending a wedding, a bride and groom abroad came under fire last month after the couple, before their wedding day, made a surprising request. One guest shared a photo of the invitation, revealing that the couple stated their preference for no 'traditional gifts'. Instead, they requested guests to transfer $40 per adult and $20 per child when confirming their attendance. The invitation read, “In lieu of traditional gifts, we kindly request that you contribute towards the cost of our reception buffet. This will allow us to share a wonderful meal together and create lasting memories with our loved ones.”
