Trent Alexander-Arnold has penned a heartfelt tribute to Diogo Jota at Anfield ahead of Liverpool's Champions League clash with Real Madrid on Tuesday evening.
The 27-year-old right-back has returned to Merseyside for the first time since his former teammate's devastating passing in July. The beloved player tragically perished in a road traffic collision at the tender age of 28.
Tributes flooded in from across the globe for Jota and his loved ones. Alexander-Arnold has now come forward to honour his memory, placing flowers outside Anfield.
He was accompanied by Real Madrid's boss Xabi Alonso, Dean Huijsen and Emilio Butragueno. He also penned a moving letter, which stated: "My mate Diogo, you are so missed but still so loved. Yours and Andre's memory will always live on.
"I smile every time I think about you and will always remember the great times we shared. Miss you mate, every day. Forever 20, YNWA. Love, Trent and family."
Earlier during the summer months, the right-back shared a tribute message on social media.
"It's so difficult to find the right words when your head and heart are struggling to accept that someone you care so much about has gone," it stated.
"Diogo, your family was your world. They were everything. For Rute, his children, and his parents, all of our hearts are broken. And for Andre as well.
"Brothers and best friends. When it's less painful, I want to remember Diogo with a big smile.
"So many laughs and happy moments. He was such a great teammate and a true friend. Forever number 20. Rest in peace, Diogo."
Alexander-Arnold, who shared the pitch with Jota for five seasons at Liverpool, moved to Real Madrid after his contract ended in May, concluding a 21-year stint with the Merseyside club.
