The reason Prince William is never seen wearing a wedding ring

and are set to be reminiscing on fond memories today as they celebrate 14 happy years of married life. The Prince and Princess of Wales, 42 and 43, on April 29, 2011 - 10 years after first meeting at the University of St Andrew's.

While the couple seem to be as in love with each other today as they did on their beautiful wedding day, some royal fans can't help but notice that the future king's wedding finger has always been noticeably bare.

While Princess Kate always wears her wedding ring, the same cannot be said for her husband. Since 2011, William has not been seen wearing a ring, and is thought not to have been given one.

A Palace insider revealed in 2011: "He's not one for jewellery. He's never worn any. He decided he didn't want to wear one now. It's all down to personal preference.

"Catherine will wear a ring fashioned from a lump of Welsh gold owned by the Royal Family that has been smelted down. The couple have both had a hand in the design.

"This is the ring Prince Harry will carry and hand over in the traditional way."

Princess Kate's ring was made with a piece of Welsh gold that the late Queen Elizabeth II had given to her grandson Prince William when his engagement to Kate was announced.

She still wears her wedding ring to this day, often pairing it with her engagement ring - which once belonged to William's mother Diana, Princess of Wales -

William, on the other hand, wears no rings and has only ever been seen wearing different types of jewellery such as bracelets, with even this being very rare.
