According to Down Detector, more than 4,000 people across the UK have reported that the music streaming service has crashed. The issue seems to have started after 1pm. Spotify says it is the "world's most popular audio streaming subscription service" and the company says it has more than 678 million users, including 268 million subscribers.

In the UK, premium membership costs £11.99 a month and can be cancelled at any time. Some users have been taking to social media to highlight the loss of service, with one person posting on X: "Of course Spotify wanna act up while I'm at the gym."

Another joked the outage could lead to apocalyptic scenes, joking: "Spotify is down, start eating the neighbourhood pets."

One distraught person posted on X: "Nooo, spotify is down, I was okay with Twitter and Insta, but this is my limit."

Several of the people complaining about an outage have posted on social media from countries outside of the UK, suggesting several nations may be affected.

Express.co.uk have contacted Spotify for comment.

Express.co.uk have also attempted to access the service on mobile phones and it appeared to be bug free on the devices checked.

Spotify runs an X account to handle support problems as well as a page on the website to give latest information on issues, but neither were updated at the time of writing.
