Strictly Come Dancing star Toyah Willcox once told how she was "summoned" to St James' Palace to meet with some members of the royal family. While there, Princess Margaret didn't hold back on letting the Thunder in the Mountains singer know what she thought of her.

Speaking to the Guardian back in 2022, Toyah explained that Pricess Margaret had given her somewhat brutal verdict. She said: " Princess Margaret was fabulous.

"She asked what I did and I said 'I'm a punk rocker.' She went 'Ohhh! How ridiculous!'"

Explaining how the meeting, which happened in 1980, came about, Toyah told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: "One of the most bizarre moments of my life was in the middle of recording 'Anthem' and I was summoned to St James's Palace with Katharine Hamnett, who is an all-time rebel, to have tea with the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret.

"I was wearing a Willy Brown dress, and my hair was bright orange with yellow streaks.

"We were told we had to say ma'am and curtsey, and the Queen Mother entered and sat on one sofa with another guest and Margaret sat on my sofa with me and Katharine and said, 'Oh Hello... we want to see what a punk rocker looks like, which was just fabulous, especially as I realised later that Princess Margaret was probably the original punk rocker as she just rebelled and rebelled and rebelled."

Toyah added: "We talked about the philosophy of punk rock and how it was opening doors for women, and she was fascinated, and I met her many times after that and she was a wicked and very sharp woman."

During Toyah's 40 year career, she's released more than 20 albums and appeared in 10 films and more than 40 theatre productions. Her hit singles include "It's a Mystery", "Thunder in the Mountains" and "I Want to Be Free".

The singing sensation is currently competing in this years celebrity line up for BBC's Strictly Come Dancing, paired up with dance pro Neil Jones.

However, Toyah has emerged as the favourite to be the first shown the door. Bookies have given her odds of 3/6, indicating she could be leaving the show this weekend.

After the show kicked off, Betfred's Kayley Cornelius commented on the shifting odds, saying: "A tough first week for Toyah Willcox, who now finds herself trailing behind her peers at the bottom of the leaderboard after the first round of live performances. Priced at 3/6, she's now the favourite to be the first eliminated from the competition."

It comes as their tango performance to Madonna's 'Ray Of Light' was met with criticism from Craig Revel Horwood and earned them the episode's lowest score a mere 12 points in week one.
