Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tried to keep their relationship under the radar at the very start - but their plan was almost ruined by a member of staff.
In Harry's bombshell memoir Spare, the 39-year-old recalled how he had to hide under the covers after a member of staff knocked on Meghan's hotel room.
The pair first met in London in 2016, with their royal wedding taking place in Windsor less than two years later.
Speaking of the tense moment their secret was almost spilled, Harry revealed that the couple had been apart for two months and that their reunion took place at Soho House in London.
As reported by cheatsheet.com, Harry had visited Meghan at her hotel and one of the former actress's friends took him secretly to her room.
Referring to the covers as his "preferred hiding place", Harry wrote a member of hotel staff had knocked to offer Meghan some room service. Going against Meghan's suggestion, the now-Duchess of Sussex had encouraged her then-boyfriend to hide in the bathroom.
As Meghan spoke to the staff member, Harry recalled that he had started to "run out of air" as he hid under the sheets.
Their relationship was officially confirmed in October 2016, with their engagement publicly shared in November the following year.
Fast forward to the present day, Harry and Meghan celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary in May. The pair also share two children - Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three.
The couple stepped down as senior working royals in 2020, and now reside in California.
