A star of TLC reality show My 600lb Life has died despite an incredible transformation after the show. Lupita Samano weighed in at 642lbs (45.8 stone) when she sought the help of Dr Younan Nowzaradan in season four of the show. During the show she managed to drop an incredible 300lb and qualify for weight loss surgery, and got down to almost 200lb (14.2 stone) by 2017.
Things continued to improve for Lupe, who was almost down to 180lb by 2019. But now it appears she has sadly passed away - though no official cause of death is known. According to her sisters, she passed away in September 2025, with her older sister Patricia writing: "My sister has made up to the lord no more pain or suffering. Rest in peace little sister, everyone please keep the family in prayers."
Her other sister penned: "I am sharing this post in loving memory of my big sister Lupita Samano. If you knew her you know she was a giver and a lover. Thank you for all the support, prayers and kind words in this time," asking fans to donate to a GoFundMe set up to help the family.
According to an online obituary page, Lupe passed away on September 12th. Her sister has also shared a GoFundMe link to help with funeral expenses.
Fans on Reddit reacted with shock to the news, as one posted: "It appears based on Wikipedia that Lupe from season four has passed away. I believe it's based on a recent obituary of someone with the same name as her that passed away on September 12 at age 50.
"If it is in fact her, that's very sad and may she rest in peace. She certainly put up a brave battle with her obesity."

Her 600lb Life co-star Gilbert - who was Lupe's ex partner while on the show - also posted a tribute to Lupe on Facebook, writing: "Just found out yesterday and today from a friend and family member on Facebook that Lupe passed away on the 12th of this month.
"I called the facility where she was staying ever since and they told me she is no longer there, her sister wrote this post... Going to check obituaries to find out and if you can help me also please to see if this is true, crying over this.
"Keep Lupe in your prayers, God bless you. She is free from her bed now walking with the lord," he wrote.
