Similarly, contributors promoted the virtues of hand sanitiser and vodka, as both possess high alcohol concentrations capable of dissolving stubborn ink. Alongside these clever tricks, fabric specialist Shadmaan Kader from Pound A Metre delved into his expertise.

He recommended a particular pantry staple priced at just 60p for tackling such issues. Shadmaan emphasised: "With ink stains, it's important to treat them as quickly as possible because when the ink dries, it becomes harder to break down and remove fully."

He added: "White vinegar is a really effective stain remover and can be used for just about anything. To remove felt tip, you will need white vinegar and washing up liquid, cotton balls and paper towels.

"Simply mix a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water. Add a few drops of a mild washing up liquid and soak a cotton ball in this solution. Gently dab the area and blot with a dry paper towel to absorb the solution and ink.

"You may have to repeat this process several times depending on the severity of the stain, but this is a gentle way to remove felt tip stains and keep your leather looking fresh."

Vinegar is a versatile household item as not only can it add flavour to your dishes, but work as a hard surface cleaner. It's known to be an all-in-one solution for cleaning, removing all kinds of stains.
