Two people have been rushed to hospital after being stabbed in north London this afternoon. Police closed Kilburn High Road in both directions after being called to reports of a stabbing, with a 21-year-old man arrested for possession of an offensive weapon and grievous bodily harm.

One woman was treated for stab wounds at the scene, while a man in his 50s suffered a slash wound to his hand.

A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called at 12.01pm today (April 25) to reports of a stabbing opposite Kilburn High Road Station. We sent resources to the scene including ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer, and members of our tactical response unit.

"Our first paramedic was on the scene in under five minutes. We treated two people at the scene. We took one patient to a major trauma centre and one patient to hospital."
