Gogglebox viewers demand change minutes into show after controversial clip

Gogglebox viewers are up in arms over a controversial segment aired in the latest episode on Friday, April 4. As Channel 4's beloved lineup of telly-watching families, couples, and friends settled in to review the week's TV offerings, one particular clip sparked backlash from the cast, prompting calls for changes to the popular series. Just minutes in, the cast were seen watching and ITV news clip cantered around U.S. President Donald Trump's bid to acquire the region of Greenland.

The clip showed the president speaking, and a clip of Vice President J.D. Vance talking at a Greenlandic military base about a U.S. presence ensuring the safety of the region. But several member of the cast were heard throwing slurs at the American leaders, and dubbing them "brain dead". Fans at home were quick to slam the segment, proclaiming "Take politics out the show" and accusing the network of having a hidden agenda.

One viewer blasted: "#gogglebox i love the show but the contestants shouldn't be talking about politics. it' just going to alienate loads of people. Keep politics off the show please channel$!" Someone else agreed: "I like Gogglebox but I'm getting sick of the anti Trump rhetoric every week. I know Channel 4 are full of leftie, slightly dim, soyboys, but leave the programme alone & stop using it to make vapid political points."
