F1 star reportedly had a meltdown in the garage on Saturday after being . The Canadian was after apparently experiencing pain in his hand, with Fernando Alonso forced to represent Aston Martin on his own.
Stroll began his F1 career with Williams in 2017 before moving to Aston Martin two years later when the team were still competing under the Racing Point branding. He has finished in the bottom half of the Drivers' Championship standings in all but one of his F1 seasons, with his strongest campaign coming in 2023 when he finished 10th.
Stroll, who had surgery two years ago following a cycling accident, booked his place in Q2 on Saturday but then failed to kick on as he finished the session more than half a second behind team-mate Alonso.
And, according to the , he lost his temper in the garage following his exit as he broke things and swore at team members.
He was then forced to withdraw from Sunday's race, with his team insisting he was "experiencing pain in his hand and wrist, which his medical consultant believes is in relation to the procedure he underwent in 2023."
A team spokesperson told the BBC: "Lance was upset." They went on to explain that the loss of temper and the injury were not related.
And it was confirmed that the 26-year-old would undergo a "procedure to rectify these issues before focusing on his recovery."
He could therefore miss the Canadian Grand Prix in a fortnight if he fails to recover in time.
Stroll failed to make his way to the driver weighing scales, as is customary, after the qualifying session and was investigated by the FIA as a result.
He was then slapped with an official warning, with the stewards' verdict stating: "We reviewed the video footage from the garage which showed the driver of Car 18 (Stroll) exiting the car and leaving the garage from the back and not proceeding through the pit lane as required."
The stewards then revealed Stroll had clarified the reason for the absence in a letter as the officials explained: "We were given two documents, a medical report and a letter from the driver. In the letter, the driver explained that the reason for failing to immediately attend the weighing was because he was in pain and sought urgent medical attention for the pain.
"He attended the weigh-in and the media pen as soon as he was able to, before heading to the medical centre for further evaluation."
