Emmerdale enthusiasts are left in suspense over the fate of Moira Dingle (portrayed by Natalie Robb) after she turned down brain surgery following Zak Dingle's (Steve Halliwell) heartbreaking demise on Monday (October 15).
Moira, a familiar face to ITV soap viewers, is suffering from a brain tumour known as a meningioma, which triggers memory loss, seizures, confusion and a host of other symptoms.
Upon receiving her medical diagnosis, Moira chose not to proceed with the proposed surgery, instead opting to control her symptoms with medication.
However, after experiencing terrifying seizures and under pressure from her family, Moira had a change of heart and agreed to undergo the procedure.
On Monday, Moira ended a call from Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and suffered an absent seizure while preparing breakfast, resulting in her burning herself, reports .
The farmer was helped by Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano) but was left frustrated by her inability to perform simple tasks like making her son a bacon sandwich.
In an unexpected turn of events, Moira received a call from the hospital informing her that her brain surgery could be scheduled for the next day due to a cancellation. The news frightened her, but she chose not to share it with Cain.
Terrified by the thought of such a risky operation, Moira invited Matty to accompany her on a walk across the fields to her late daughter Holly's (Sophie Powles) graveyard.
Eventually, Moira consented to the operation, but was taken aback when Cain unexpectedly returned home, intending to surprise her.
Cain disclosed that Zak's mood was on the upswing after coming home, while Moira remained tight-lipped about her scheduled surgery the following day.
Matty vanished before Cain decided to hop into the shower. Meanwhile, a distressing phone call interrupted the peace Debbie Dingle (portrayed by Charley Webb), struggled to compose herself as she delivered the devastating news of Zak's sudden passing.
The sombre duty fell upon Cain on Tuesday (October 15) to relay Zak's death to the Dingle clan. In light of the sorrowful update, Moira resolved to forego her operation.
Speculation amongst Emmerdale enthusiasts is growing rampantly; concerns are amassing over the possibility that Moira might meet a harrowing fate, culminating in a double tragedy for the Dingle household.
Venturing onto social media platform X, one perturbed viewer commented: "Of course, Moira isn't going to have her op now........she'll probably have a massive fit at the end."
Another spectator was unable to conceal their alarm, exclaiming: "Don't cry, Moira. You may well be seeing Holly soon."
Adding to the conversation, another remarked: "They're going to drag the Moira story out. How does she think Cain will feel when he finds out she cancelled her op #emmerdale."
In a plea for sense and simplicity, a vexed fan suggested: "Oh Moira you'd just say "the op is tomorrow Cain" end of drama".
Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV and ITVX, with an hour long episode every Thursday
