Liverpool star Darwin Nunez has shown off a bold new haircut online as he prepares for a move away from Merseyside this summer. The striker is expected to leave the Reds in the next few weeks, with several clubs interested in acquiring his services.
Nunez has struggled since joining the Anfield outfit from Benfica in a deal worth £85million in 2022, scoring seven goals in 47 appearances in all competitions last season. With his struggles in front of goal failing to convince Arne Slot of his long-term quality, Liverpool are hoping to cut their losses on the No. 9.
Napoli are leading the race to secure the signature of the Uruguay international, though a handful of Saudi Pro League outfits are also interested in the 26-year-old and they could look to hijack the ongoing negotiations.
Liverpool are said to be open selling Nunez for a fee in the region of £50m, and the forward already appears to be preparing for a fresh start elsewhere. The forward has shared a picture on his Instagram of him undergoing a major hair transformation.
The striker has rid himself of his iconic long, slicked back locks with a headband, opting for a drastically different hairstyle with a buzzcut. Nunez posted two pictures on his Instagram to his four-and-a-half million followers to show off his new trim.
In the first snap, the striker posed alongside his partner and numerous balloons as he celebrated his birthday, and the second photo showed him posing mid-haircut, with a clipper to his head.
Nunez will be hoping that a fresh start - and new haircut - will allow him to get his career back on track. Napoli are in advanced negotiations to strike a deal with Liverpool, in a deal which could prompt the Reds to continue their summer spending spree.
The departure of Nunez is expected to spark Slot's side into life in the striker market. The Merseyside outfit have been heavily linked with a move for Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Ekitike, but they face competition from Chelsea and Manchester United in the race to secure his signature. Luis Diaz and Harvey Elliott also have suitors around Europe, and either of the pair depart then replacement signings are expected.
