Bridgerton season 3 gets huge ratings boost - but three Netflix shows are still on top

Send Push

Bridgerton season three made millions of Netflix subscribers swoon, and now the streaming platform has the stats to prove it.

The third outing of the smash-hit Shonda Rhimes drama proved just as unmissable as the first two instalments.

This time, Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton stepped into leading roles as viewers devoured the long-awaited romance between Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton.

There were also scandals galore as Penelope's Lady Whistledown alter-ego was finally revealed to the entire ton by the end of the season.

Season three was released in two parts in May and June, but was this a winning move for Netflix?

The viewing figures for season three have now been revealed, and they're pretty staggering.

Season three has accumulated an incredible 91.9 million views since the first half premiered on May 16.

These figures were calculated on June 30, according to Variety, so those numbers are only set to increase.

It's currently 10th on Netflix's all-time chart for English-language shows, not far behind season two which stands as the streamer's ninth biggest series ever.

The first season is still champion, though, as it's currently number four with 113.3 million views in its first 91 days.

However, there are still a few weeks left before the window closes for Bridgerton season three, so it can definitely climb up the ranks.

It faces stiff competition from other Netflix hits, though. Currently above the second and third seasons of the Regency drama are Stranger Things season three, Fool Me Once and The Night Agent.

The Queen's Gambit is still going strong four years after its release at number five, while DAHMER: Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is at number three, edging out the first three seasons of Bridgerton so far.

Stranger Things comes in again at number two with its fourth season, a promising sign for the highly-anticipated fifth outing, coming next year.

But, the reigning champion is newcomer Wednesday; its first season starring Jenna Ortega as the Addams Family heroine was watched by an incredible 252 million people within its first 91 days.

Could Bridgerton season four beat those figures?

Bridgerton is available to stream on Netflix.
