BBC Breakfast presenter Charlie Stayt made a bold remark during the latest episode as he questioned a colleague's job.
Charlie was back on the famous red sofa on Friday (May 16) alongside his co-star Naga Munchetty.
During the show, the news anchors handed the reins over to business reporter and presenter Peter Ruddick, who was reporting from Drayton Manor Theme Park.
Sharing evidence on how the prices of attractions have increased over the years, Peter later mentioned that he was open to taking on one of the rides in the theme park.
As Naga and Charlie encouraged him to do so while watching on in the studio, Peter said: "I am a very serious business journalist."
But Charlie hit back jokingly and said: "Who told you that? Who said that?"
As Naga laughed in the background, Charlie was unsure if Peter heard his quip as he failed to respond, but Naga, who clearly couldn't contain her laughter, said: "I think he did!"
The funny exchange didn't go unnoticed by viewers at home as they headed over to social media site X to share in on the banter.
One viewer said: "#bbcbreakfast Apprentice Pete has been allowed to go to the theme park.. Bless.."
Another chimed in and wrote: "Serious business journalist, he says. Awwwwww."
While another viewer sarcastically took aim at Charlie and Naga by saying: "Charlie and Naga taking the p**s out of their apprentice business reporter..Office bullies..."
Reporter Peter has years of experience under his belt and currently works on BBC Breakfast.
He started his career at the BBC in 2016 as a broadcast journalist and since October 2023, he has worked as a BBC Breakfast Business reporter.
Back in November, Peter was on hand to deliver breaking news on BBC Breakfast. He said at the time: "We knew that bills were going to go up slightly in January", before revealing: "Now we know the exact details.
"Good morning everyone, as I say on Monday we reported the final forecast but now we know for sure so we are talking about an increase to the price cap of £21 a year," he shared.
BBC Breakfast airs Mondays-Sundays at 6am on BBC One.
