Bhubaneswar: A family had a narrow escape as the car in which they were travelling caught fire in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
According to sources, the family from outside Odisha had come on a visit during Dussehra. While they were going in the car, the vehicle suddenly caught fire on National Highway 16 near Nayapalli Durga Puja pandal in the evening.
The car driver stopped the car before the fire could spread and brought all the members of the family out. Soon after they came out, the fire spread fast and engulfed the entire vehicle.
On being informed, Fire services personnel and police rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. Though they could extinguish the fire, the car was totally burnt in the process.
The vehicular movement on the National Highway was affected during the busy hours. While the cause of the fire has not been ascertained, it is suspected to have been sparked by short circuit in electrical connections in the car.
