Monkeypox is a dangerous virus that has now spread to India as well. It has caused a lot of devastation in Africa, and now its dangerous variant Clade-1 has been found in India. Its first case has been reported in Kerala. In view of this virus, the World Health Organization (WHO) had declared it a global health emergency last month.

The risk of monkeypox

The monkeypox virus is spreading rapidly, and this has caused concern all over the world. After the corona virus epidemic, monkeypox has now worried people again. According to WHO, this virus is spreading so fast that it has reached 17 other countries from the Middle Eastern countries in just a few days.

First case in Kerala

According to the Kerala Health Department, a 38-year-old man has been found infected with the Clade-1 strain of monkeypox. This person had recently returned to India from the United Arab Emirates. After the case came to light, the state government and the health department are on alert mode.

Symptoms of Monkeypox

The symptoms of monkeypox are similar to those of covid. First of all, the patient gets fever, which people often mistake for seasonal flu. Apart from this, the patient starts having cough, nausea, vomiting and skin rashes.

According to health experts, the infected person may have back and muscle pain, fatigue and headache. The rash on the skin starts filling with pus and causes itching. Sometimes, the patient's rectum gets swollen, which causes difficulty in passing urine.

How monkeypox spreads

The monkeypox virus is spread by coming into contact with an infected person's sores, pustules, or things they have used. The virus does not spread easily through the air, but if someone is infected with monkeypox, touching their sores or coming into contact with fluid coming out of the sores can cause the infection. Pregnant women can also pass the virus to their baby, and it is also possible to spread it through sexual intercourse.
