Scientists have recently discovered a large ocean deep inside the Earth, which is located about 643 kilometers below the ground. The water of this ocean has been found frozen in a special type of rock. According to scientists, this rock is a mantle rock, called 'Ringwoodite'. This rock is like a sponge, which has the ability to absorb water.
What is 'Ringwoodite' rock?: 'Ringwoodite ' is a special type of rock that absorbs water, just like a sponge absorbs water. But this time scientists found that water is stored in a different state inside this rock. Many scientists were doing this research for decades, because they believed that there could be a large source of water deep under the earth.
How was this water discovered?: Scientists found out about this water when they were studying earthquakes. They found that water is trapped inside this 'Ringwoodite' rock located deep inside the Earth. This water can be three times more than the oceans present on the surface. This makes it clear that a large reservoir is hidden inside the Earth.
Importance of this discovery: This discovery is considered very important from a scientific point of view. For decades scientists were trying to find out where the water beneath the Earth had disappeared. Now, the discovery of this new ocean has given us new information about the internal structure of the Earth and the water reserves present in it.
