Char Dham Yatra 2024 Begins Tomorrow: What You Need to Know

The much-awaited Char Dham Yatra is set to kick off tomorrow, with the opening of the revered Kedarnath Dham on May 10. Devotees from far and wide are gearing up for this sacred journey, marked by rituals, chants, and fervent devotion.

Preparations at Kedarnath Dham are in full swing, adorned with 40 quintals of flowers, as per the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) President, Ajendra Ajay. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami extends a warm welcome to all devotees, expressing his excitement for the beginning of this spiritual odyssey.

The inauguration ceremony will feature performances by renowned bhajan singers, adding to the auspicious ambiance. Dr. Harish Gaur, the BKTC Media Incharge, disclosed that volunteers and right holders will carry the Panchmukhi idol of Lord Kedarnath barefoot from Shri Omkareshwar Temple Ukhimath to Kedarnath Dham.

Key Points of Char Dham Yatra 2024

The journey begins on May 10, commencing with Gangotri, Yamunotri, and Kedarnath, followed by Badrinath on May 12. The Char Dham Yatra holds immense spiritual significance in Hinduism and typically runs from April-May to October-November. The traditional route suggests starting from Yamunotri, then proceeding to Gangotri, Kedarnath, and concluding at Badrinath.

How to Register for Char Dham Yatra?

Registration is mandatory and can be done either at registration centers or through the Tourist Care Uttarakhand app, available on Android and iOS. Alternatively, registration via WhatsApp by sending "Yatra" to +91 8394833833 is also possible. Each devotee receives a QR code upon registration, granting access to various services and attractions.

Offline registration centers are set up at multiple locations, including Haridwar Rahi Hotel, Rishikesh ISBT, and Janki Chatti, among others.

Travel Tips:

Kedarnath: Reach Gaurikund by Yatra Buses from Rishikesh or Haridwar, then embark on a 17-km uphill trek or opt for pony, doli, or helicopter services. Badrinath: Buses and taxis are readily available from Rishikesh and Haridwar for the approximately 300 km journey.

Yamunotri: Travel to Janki Chatti, around 220 km from Rishikesh, then proceed with a 5-km uphill journey, with pony and doli services available.

\Gangotri: Good road connectivity with buses and taxis from Rishikesh and Haridwar for the approximately 270 km journey. With all arrangements in place, devotees eagerly anticipate embarking on this sacred pilgrimage, seeking blessings and spiritual rejuvenation at the Char Dhams.
