At least 50 flights operated by Indian airlines received bomb threats on Sunday, adding to a rising trend of hoax threats against the nation’s airlines. In the last 14 days alone, Indian carriers have received more than 350 bomb threats, with most originating from social media. Authorities are actively addressing these incidents through legislative measures and increased monitoring of social media platforms to combat the wave of false alarms.

Reports indicate that Akasa Air received security alerts for 15 of its flights on Sunday. After comprehensive inspections, all aircraft were cleared to resume operations. Additionally, sources noted that IndiGo faced threats involving 18 of its flights, while Vistara had 17 flights impacted by similar alerts.

On Saturday, several hotels in cities like Kolkata, Tirupati, and Rajkot were targeted with bomb threat emails, sparking widespread concern. After police investigations, all threats were found to be hoaxes. In Kolkata, 10 major hotels received alarming emails on the day of Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to the region. Kolkata police conducted rigorous safety checks but confirmed no explosives were found. Authorities informed central agencies due to the increase in hoax threats against public locations.

The emails contained disturbing language, claiming bombs were concealed in black bags within hotel grounds. One email reportedly warned, “I have planted bombs on the grounds of your hotel. The bombs are hidden in black bags. They will detonate soon. You have little time to live. Evacuate.”

In Tirupati, three hotels received similar threats, following other recent hoaxes. These emails mentioned Jaffer Sadiq, a figure associated with a drug racket, and referenced two individuals linked to Tamil Nadu politics.

In Rajkot, 10 hotels were simultaneously threatened by emails from an ID named “Kan Din.” Police teams, led by DCP Parthrajsinh Gohil, searched the locations thoroughly but found no suspicious items.

Authorities continue to monitor and respond to these security threats, emphasizing public safety and ensuring operations are unaffected by the hoaxes.
