Mysterious North Sentinel Island: Even today humans cannot go to many places on Earth. There is a place in India too, where going is no less than a danger. North Sentinel Island is located in the Andaman Islands of the country. People of the Sentinele tribe live here, who have no contact with the world. In the year 2018, suddenly discussion about this island started. In fact, 26-year-old Christian missionary John Allen Chau had tried to go here, who was killed by the people of the island.

It is said that he had tried to enter the island illegally. He tried to convert the tribals to Christianity, but Chau's death was not alone. In the year 2006, two fishermen who had gone fishing here were also murdered. The British colonial history may be the real reason behind the hostile attitude of the tribals towards the outside world.

This may include disease, sexual abuse, and kidnapping.

The British had gone to the island

In the year 1879, British Naval officer Maurice Vidal Portman was appointed officer-in-charge of Andaman. Portman was responsible for documenting the suppressed tribes in the area for more than two decades. Their role was to civilize communities in the area, even if that meant using force. He visited North Sentinel Island in the year 1880. The officer's men captured six people from the island, an elderly man, a woman, and four children. He was brought to Port Blair allegedly for a science experiment.

According to a media report documenting his actions, he informed that the people brought from the island soon became afflicted with a mysterious disease and all of them began falling rapidly ill. Both the man and the woman died, while the children were returned to the island. All the children delivered to the island were infected.

The infection spread through children proved fatal there. Human rights organization Survival International said that Portman's travels may be responsible for much of the hostility and fear of newcomers among the tribes.
