NVIDIA is hoping that the use of AI will increase in India and they will benefit from this model. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang also met Reliance Industries owner Mukesh Ambani at a conference in Mumbai.
What is this AI Model?
Nvidia has created a new small AI model named Nemotron-4-Mini-Hindi-4B. This model has 4 billion parameters. Now companies can create their own AI models using this model. The statement said, 'This model was taught by mixing real Hindi data, artificial Hindi data and English data. It was also made smaller and cleaner to improve it.'
IT company Tech Mahindra has created a new AI model using NVIDIA's new AI model, named Indus 2.0. This model understands Hindi and many other Indian languages. There are 1.4 billion people living in India, but only 10% of them speak English.
According to the Constitution of India, 22 languages are recognized. Many companies in India, big and small, are building AI models that understand different Indian languages.
Big AI models like ChatGPT are trained on a lot of data, but smaller AI models are trained on less data and are therefore cheaper. Small AI models are good for companies that don't have a lot of money. Chipmakers around the world are investing in India to expand their business. India wants to grow its semiconductor industry and compete with places like Taiwan. But analysts say this could take years.
