Brits should brace for a mini heat blast this weekend bringing a 28C scorcher to the UK after weeks of dreary weather.
After weeks of unseasonable conditions dampening spirits across the UK, many will be wondering whether the British summer had already come to an end.
The lingering effects of ferocious Storm Floris can still be seen across the British Isles, with overcast skies reigning overhead. It comes after an exciting heatwave forecast with maps revealing the exact date a heat plume will scorch the UK. The storm was a far cry from how many expected July and August to play out, with the Met Office recording hurricane-force winds of up to 100mph, and record levels of rainfall dumped across northern regions.

However, this looks set to change from this weekend as forecasters predict a warm, sunny weekend ahead.
Though temperatures this weekend will be no comparison to recent heatwaves, the mercury is definitely on the rise from Saturday, when balmy highs of 25C are expected in London and the south-east. Other parts, including Birmingham, Newtown, Peterborough, Lincoln and Exeter will be similarly warm, as the mercury rises to 24C.
Most of the country will see temperatures staying above the 20C mark apart from more northern parts, including Scotland, North Wales and Northern Ireland, where highs from the mid to high teens are forecast.
The situation will be similar on Sunday, but with those mid-teen forecasts rising a few degrees higher, hovering under 20C. Meanwhile, more areas in the south will edge closer to the 25C seen across London and the south-east.

But the real surge begins on Monday, when the mercury is expected to rise to 27C in London, Swindon and Birmingham as the rest of the south also heats up. In the north, Newcastle Upon Tyne is set for a pleasant 23C while York is expected to see a toasty 25C. Scotland is still lagging behind, but highs of 21C and 20C are expected in Edinburgh and Glasgow respectively, according to the Met Office.
Maps from WXCharts suggest the temperatures could be even higher, with reports of 28C seen in the south-east.
Weather watchers believe that just days later, on Saturday August 16, Brits are set to roast as another heatwave sears its way across the British Isles.
The hot spell is set to hit next weekend, with Gloucestershire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and North Wales likely to be impacted the most. Maps from WXCharts show that the temperatures could reach nearly 40C.
Highs of 36C are predicted in Oxfordshire, Berkshire, and Hampshire, and the south can expect 35C highs. Bristol and Bath, in the southwest, will see the mercury reach 33C, and those in west and mid Wales are set to experience a slightly cooler 32C.
