Russian forces are allegedly kidnapping and executing civilians in Ukraine, a politician has warned this morning.
Ihor Klymenko, Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, said the Russian military is taking civilians captive in the northern part of Vovchansk, a city in Chuhuiv Raion, Kharkiv Oblast, where "active hostilities" are taking place. Police are evacuating the area despite threats from Russia, the minister said, but the Russian military is preventing evacuations from taking place.
Mr Klymenko said Ukrainian civilians have been "kidnapped and herded into basements", with executions taking place. The minister said a man was killed after refusing to obey the commands of Russian forces and trying to escape on foot.
