Roman Kemp is now the hot favourite to join Good Morning Britain after he said goodbye to his Capital FM Breakfast Show.

Fans are sad that Roman left his show on Capital FM on Thursday morning, but he might be on our TV screens very soon. The 31-year-old is being backed to take over as a host on Good Morning Britain. It comes right after he finished his last radio show, which he held for 10 years.

Lee Astley from betideas.com shared: "Roman's Kemp highly publicised departure from Capital FM has sparked rumours of what his next role will be, with a selection of TV and radio appearances being touted. His likeliest role seems to be a beeline to the Good Morning Britain sofa, where he is 6/4 to assume presenting duties, while he is 4/1 to start his own TV chat show."

They also said that Roman could stay in radio, with chances to join LBC (12/1) or talkSPORT (14/1). Earlier this month, Good Morning Britain announced that Adil Ray would be the first new face on the show after Ben Shephard left. Ben quit the ITV morning show to host This Morning with Cat Deeley, taking over from Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.

Roman stepped away from his radio show and became emotional as he thanked all his listeners for supporting him when he was dealing with depression. He said: "I know that there is a lot of people listening right now, and I wanted to take the time to say thank you. I was more nervous about saying I was leaving than actually leaving this show.

"This show is run by so many people behind the scenes who try so hard to give you that bit of energy in the morning and to try and get you up and feeling good, but I think what I want to get across is just how much fun I've had on this station in the past ten years. It has changed my life in so many ways and I have grown up in this place, and that's because of all of you listening. You have been able to be there for me through things that I never imagined would even happen."

He added: "I've had moments on this show where my whole life outside of work is completely down the pan. There were times where I didn't want to be here anymore. There have been moments where my life outside of this room has been the worst thing ever." Radio producer and Roman's best friend Joe Lyons took his own life in 2020, leaving his family, friends, and Global Radio colleagues shocked and heartbroken.

Following his tragic death, Roman, laid bare his own mental health issues in a bid to raise awareness and break the taboo of suicide in young males. The brave star told his own story in his memoir titled, Are You Really OK? and revealed that he was very close to taking his own life in 2019 after hearing 'lots of voices'.
