Newsboy's horseracing tips for Thursday's four meetings, including Ripon Nap

GREEN PURSUIT should take his record to Adrian Keatley to 2-2 with a win in the Ripon Silver Bowl Handicap (3.10) at Yorkshire’s ‘Garden Racecourse’ on Thursday.

The son of Arizona managed one third place from four starts as a two-year-old in 2024 when trained by Seb Spencer.

But the market expected improvement when Green Pursuit, gelded since his final start of last season, stepped out for his new stable at Catterick eight days ago.

My selection went off the 15-8 favourite to beat six rivals and did so in style, coming home with gusto to beat Lucius Aurelius by two and a half lengths.

The British Horseracing Authority handicapper reacted to that win by putting Green Pursuit up 7lb to a new rating of 75.

Connor Beasley’s mount is 1lb well in under a 6lb penalty but, more persuasively, looks to have plenty more to offer in Keatley’s care.

At Cheltenham, COCO MADEMOISELLE is taken to give Dan Skelton a boost in his battle with for the trainers’ title by landing the Exertis-Samsung Racing Excellence Award Challenger Series Mares' Chase (2.10).

The top weight is 1lb higher in the weights after a second to New Order over two and a half miles at Sandown last month and should appreciate going back up in distance here.
