'Neighbour called police on me for silly issue – many say I should get revenge'

Everyone has a few little issues with their neighbours every now and again, however one woman has revealed that her neighbour called the police on her for an outrageous reason.

The woman, based in the US, took to Reddit to talk about the situation, as she branded her neighbour a "bored old woman".

Explaining things, she wrote: "Our neighbour across the street, Wendy, hates us. I don’t know when it started. When we moved in, my husband backed up the moving truck a little too close to her mailbox, I guess.

"She sent a message to the previous residents that the new guy living across the street is ‘an idiot’ - which we know because the previous resident sent that to a different neighbour, whom we befriended."

The woman added: "She made a post on our HOA (Homeowners Association) app with tons of screenshots from her door cam of people walking their dogs saying it’s illegal for dogs to walk on her lawn. The HOA president commented for her to knock it off."

Talking about her current dilemma, she added: "About a year or two ago, my credit card expired and they sent me a new one. Apparently, I put her address instead of mine. There’s one number different. 1213 instead of 1212.

"Instead of seeing my name on the card and bringing it to me, she called 911 and told them I was trying to steal her identity. The cop knocks on my door and explains, says he told her that’s not how it works but she’s a ‘bored old woman with nothing better to do’ and she won’t give my card back. I send him back over there to get it - and instead, she shreds it in front of him."

She concluded: "There are a lot more stories about her. She’s delusional and paranoid and has made problems for everyone on our street, but we mostly all ignore her."

The post certainly struck a chord with people, as it racked up more than 4,000 upvotes and hundreds of comments.

One person asked: "How old is she? Has anyone considered contacting Adult Services for a mental health check and home inspection? It might be interesting to see if she's deemed unable to care for herself afterward."

The original poster replied: "She lives with her husband who seems to be of sound mind so she isn’t fully taking care of herself. I’d guess 70s. She’s just a busy body."

While another added: "Make friends with her husband and then go talk to him."

A third chimed in: "The cop calling her a 'bored old woman' is sending me, like even he’s over her nonsense. Y'all must have the patience of saints to deal with that

While a fourth added: "Plot twist, they return and arrest her for mail tampering, destruction of property and vandalism."

Replying to this point, the original poster added: "Yes, messing with my mail was illegal. No, I’m not going to report this crazy old lady. She’s miserable enough and I’m not out for revenge."
