Air fryers are revolutionisingkitchens everywhere, transforming everything from ordinary meals to extraordinary feasts with flawlessly prepared jacket potatoes and delectable chicken curries in minutes. Far more than just a clever contraption for quick cooking treats, the air fryer opens the door to healthier dining.
Bid farewell to grease-laden fried eggs and welcome wholesome indulgence. And who could provide better air fryer cooking guidance than television chef Jamie Oliver? He boasts an array of tempting air fryer recipes - amongst them his homemade scones.
Utterly simple to prepare in 10 minutes and bake in 12 minutes, Jamie's cheddar cheese and chive scones represent a "super easy" recipe that merges prep and cooking duration to create an immediate favourite. This comes after the success ofMary Berry's 'easy' dauphinoise potatoes recipe, made with just six ingredients.

On his website, Jamie enthused: "Let me show you how well you can bake in the air fryer this is a brilliant little recipe that I know you're going to love."
He praised the scones, saying: "These savoury scones are absolutely delicious crispy and golden, but also fluffy inside and you can knock them together really quickly".
Jamie also champions culinary creativity: "Serve with soup, salad or as part of a ploughman's lunch. And once you've given these a try, why not take them in a different direction or give a sweet version a whirl the possibilities are endless".
Ingredients- 200g self-raising flour, plus extra for dusting,
- One teaspoon baking powder,
- One teaspoon English mustard powder,
- Cayenne pepper,
- 75g unsalted butter (cold) 120g mature cheddar cheese,
- 20g chives,
- 70ml milk, plus extra for brushing,
- Olive oil,
- 200g light cream cheese,
- One lemon,
Start by sifting the flour, baking powder and mustard powder into a bowl, then add in a generous pinch of cayenne pepper and sea salt, reports the Express. Cut up the butter into cubes, then use your thumbs and forefingers to blend it into the flour mix until you have small pieces about the size of cornflakes.
Grate roughly 100g of the cheese, finely chop and add in the chives, then give everything a good mix. Make a well in the centre, pour in the milk, and combine it all into a soft, dry dough (use your hands if necessary, but resist the temptation to over-mix), adding a bit more milk if needed.
Turn out onto a surface dusted with flour and quickly shape the dough into a 3cm-thick round. Cut the dough into six triangular portions. Brush the tops of the portions with a bit of milk, then grate over the remaining cheese and sprinkle with a touch of cayenne pepper.
Smear the inside of the air fryer drawer with one tablespoon of olive oil. Place the scones inside and cook for 12 minutes at 180C. You may need to do this in batches.
To serve with the scones, mix the cream cheese with a good few gratings of lemon zest in a small bowl, then drizzle with one tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil and season with black pepper.
