Liver-related problems are one of the chronic diseases whose risk is increasing rapidly in the country. During a program at the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences in New Delhi, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh made people aware of shocking data. The Union Minister said every third person in the country may have the problem of fatty liver disease. The risk of this disease caused by diabetes and other metabolic disorders is also seen increasing rapidly in those people who do not drink alcohol.

The Union Minister said, in Western countries, most cases of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) have been seen in obese people, although in India it is seen that about 20 percent of people without obesity are also being seen as its victims.

If this liver disease is not taken care of in time, it can also lead to serious and life-threatening problems.

There may be a risk of liver cirrhosis and cancer
The Union Minister said in his address, NAFLD can also cause serious problems ranging from liver cirrhosis to liver cancer. It is important to identify and treat this disorder in time. There are two types of fatty liver problems - alcoholic fatty liver and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Lifestyle and dietary disturbances have been considered the main reason for most cases of NAFLD.

Know about non-alcoholic fatty liver disease
Liver disease - Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease affects people who drink less alcohol or do not drink at all. In this, a lot of fat starts accumulating in the liver, due to which the normal function of this organ starts getting affected. Cases of NAFLD have often been seen in obese people. Experts do not know exactly what causes the formation of fat in the liver, although lifestyle factors are considered to increase its risk.

Be careful if you have such symptoms

No symptoms are usually seen in the initial stage of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. However, over time, you may have problems like fatigue, not feeling well, and pain or discomfort in the upper right part of the stomach.

With the increase in the disease, there may be problems like itching of the skin, swelling in the stomach, difficulty in breathing, swelling in the legs, spider-like blood vessels just below the skin surface, and frequent jaundice. If you are also feeling such symptoms, then be careful.

How to stay safe from this?

Health experts say that to prevent such serious liver-related diseases, it is most important that you keep your weight under control. Take a healthy diet that is rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and healthy fats. Apart from this, minimize the consumption of alcohol, sugar, and salt. Some studies are saying that you can also become a victim of fatty liver due to excessive consumption of soda, sports drinks, packed juices, and other sweet beverages.

Exercising regularly is essential to keep the body healthy and prevent liver-related diseases.
