Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is serving jail term in the liquor scam, due to which the seat of Delhi Chief Minister was vacant, for many days everyone was wondering who will become the new Chief Minister of Delhi, but yesterday Delhi got a new Chief Minister. On Tuesday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal officially proposed Atishi as his successor. This proposal was unanimously approved by all the MLAs who stood in support of Atishi's appointment.
The change in leadership comes after Kejriwal's surprise announcement on Sunday. Addressing AAP workers, he announced his resignation as chief minister and said he will step down in two days. He also confirmed that Manish Sisodia will not take over the role.
With Kejriwal's resignation imminent ,11:30 am on Tuesday to discuss the successor . Atishi's nomination was finalised during this session.
The Delhi Assembly will convene next week on September 26-27 . The AAP has announced that the name of the new Chief Minister will be officially announced in the session of the Delhi Assembly.
