Manish Malhotra: Fashion designer Manish Malhotra recently spoke openly about his relationship with Sanjay Leela Bhansali on the show Two Much With Kajol and Twinkle.
Manish Malhotra has been a part of the film and entertainment industry for over thirty years. During this time, he has designed costumes for many major filmmakers, including big-budget films. Most filmmakers have worked with him multiple times, but Sanjay Leela Bhansali is a different story. Bhansali's films are lavish and spectacular, which is a great fit with Manish's design style. However, after Khamoshi, they did not work together for over thirty years.
Manish Malhotra spoke on Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
In his recent show Two Much With Kajol and Twinkle, Manish said that Bhansali did not work with him because he felt that Manish was a part of the close group of Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra.
Manish Malhotra was present on the show with actress Sonakshi Sinha. When hosts Kajol and Twinkle Khanna discussed the directors Manish frequently works with, Kajol said that Manish has worked with almost all the major directors, except Bhansali. To this, Manish replied, "I did only one film, Khamoshi, and after that, we didn't get along." Khamoshi: The Musical was released in 1996 and was Bhansali's directorial debut. He then directed nine more films and a web series, Heeramandi.
Manish explained his disassociation from Bhansali as simply a misunderstanding,
pointing out that Bhansali always felt he was part of the close-knit group of Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra. Manish later addressed this directly to Bhansali, saying, "Sanjay, I'm a professional and can work with different actors. Sometimes things don't work out the way we want them to, and that's when you have to carve your own path."
