Kolkata: Ending the tension, BSF jawan Purnam Kumar Shaw, who was arrested by Pakistan Rangers on Friday had returned to Bengal.
Talking to the media, the BSF constable said that he is ‘elated’ to return back to his country.
“It seems to be a second birth for me. I am very elated to return to my country and then to my state. Everyone is happy,” said Shaw.
Notably, celebration was seen across Rishra in Hooghly district and everyone was seen waiting anxiously to welcome the BSF constable.

Rajni Shaw, wife of the BSF constable, said that it is ‘Diwali’ for them.
“The house is decorated like Diwali with flowers and diyas. It is actually Diwali as Lord Ram is returning. I would like to thank everyone as my husband is finally returning home. I don’t want to recall the black days we had faced when he was detained in Pakistan. The foods he loves to eat will be prepared,” said Rajni.
Asked whether the family members will allow the BSF constable to join back his duty, to which Rajni said that it will be completely her ‘husband’s decision’.
Incidentally, before reaching Rishra, the BSF constable had reached Howrah station and amid chants of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’, Shaw was received by his family members and well-wishers.
The BSF constable had been taken into custody by Pakistan Rangers on April 23, after he unknowingly crossed international border at Punjab’s Ferozepur district.
