Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh): A tragic incident has come to light from Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur district, where a 25-year-old woman hung herself to death due to alleged mental harassment, as reported on Sunday.
Angered over police inaction, the family members placed her body in front of police station to stage a protest and raised slogans, despite the rains.
EOW Busts Massive Insurance Scam Using Fake Death Certificates In BhopalAccording to information, the deceased was identified as Shuchi Jain, daughter of Sunil Jain, and the incident took place under Bamhauri Police Outpost area.
The deceased’s family informed police that Shuchi was pursuing a PhD in Library and Information Science (M.Lib. PhD) from Indore.
During her studies, she came in contact with a man named Palas Jain from Patharia, who later began sending her obscene messages and threats.
According to the victim's family, when she tried to resist his actions, Palas, along with his brother Anuj Jain and sister, intensified the mentally harassment.
The family had submitted a written complaint to Bakswaha police in-charge Sunita Binduwa on June 9, 2025, but no strong action was taken.
The grieving relatives say that this tragic incident could have been prevented if timely steps had been taken by the police.

Angered by the lack of police action, the victim’s family and local villagers placed Shuchi’s body in front of the Bamhauri police outpost and blocked the Sagar-Bakswaha main road.
A large crowd gathered and raised slogans against the police administration.
Family demands FIR before cremation
SDOP Rohit Singh reached the spot to manage the situation, but the family refused to move the body even for cremation.
They demanded an FIR to be registered against the accused and appropriate action to be taken against the negligent police officials.
The family has appealed to Chhatarpur’s Superintendent of Police (SP) for immediate action, demanding a case be filed against the accused and departmental action taken against the officers who failed to act.
As of the time this report was filed, the protest and road blockade at Bamhauri bus stand were still ongoing.
