Thane: The Khadakpada Police booked three individuals for allegedly assaulting a squad from the Anti-Encroachment Department of the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation while anti-encroachment operations were being carried out in Kalyan.
The incident took place at an under-construction site located in Vadavli in Kalyan West on Wednesday when the KDMC officials visited the spot. The accused have been identified as Vaibhav Duryodhan Patil and Pankaj Duryodhan Patil.
According to civic officials, the Encroachment Department visited the spot to verify the unauthorized construction under the instruction of Pramod Patil, the Assistant Municipal Commissioner.
A team led by Rajendra Salunkhe, the officer, along with other officials, visited an unauthorized construction site located in Vadawali in Kalyan, where the accused allegedly beat them up and obstructed the duty of the KDMC officials.
The accused threatened them and allegedly beat Shirish Garge and other employees with a wooden stick. Following this incident, they approached the police station and filed an FIR against them under various sections of 132, 121(1), 115(2), 352, 351(2), and 3(5) of the Indian Code of Justice BNS.
Amarnath Waghmode, Senior Police Inspector from Khadakpada Police Station, said, "The complainant approached us on Thursday and filed an FIR against them. No arrests have been made yet. Further investigation is ongoing."
