11 devotees were injured when a goods vehicle hit a private bus going to Shirdi for darshan on the Ghoti-Sinnar highway in Igatpuri taluka. All the injured are residents of Ghatkopar.
Some people from Hill Seva Mandal Chali in Bhatwadi in Ghatkopar were leaving for Shirdi in a private passenger bus on Saturday morning. While the bus was traveling on the Ghoti-Sinnar highway in Igatpuri taluka, a goods vehicle coming at high speed from Sinnar hit the bus near Shenith Shivara.
The injured include Neha Phansekar (45), Nitin Phansekar, Jayashree Vanjari, Anita Kandalkar, Bharti Haldankar, Mansi Masulkar, Nanda Masulkar, Nagesh Masulkar, Malti Bandivdekar, Swati Phansekar, and Shubham Bhange (the bus driver). Among the injured, driver Bhange and Mansi Masulkar, who was sitting in the front seat, as well as Nitin Phansekar and Swati Phansekar, who were sitting at the back, have suffered serious injuries to their hands, legs, and head. Other individuals have sustained minor injuries. Both the vehicles have been extensively damaged.
The driver of the cargo vehicle fled the scene without providing any information about the accident.
Upon receiving information about the accident, Inspector Hemant Bhamre of Vadivere Police Station and other staff immediately rushed to the scene. The injured were admitted to SMBT Sewath Hospital near Ghoti. A case has been registered at Vadivere Police Station based on the complaint of Neha Phansekar.
