Panvel: The Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) celebrated International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm near Vadale Lake. The event witnessed overwhelming participation from citizens of all age groups, who gathered in large numbers despite the rainy weather.
Renowned yoga instructor and retired Lieutenant, Ram Palat Yadav, the chief trainer of the Patanjali Yoga Committee, conducted the session. He guided the attendees through various yoga postures including Tadasana, Vakrasana, Bhujangasana, and Trikonasana, explaining their health benefits.
In addition, he demonstrated key pranayama techniques such as Kapalbhati, Bhramari, and Anulom Vilom, while also elaborating on the positive effects of meditation on physical and mental well-being.
The event saw presence of MLC Vikrant Patil, Additional Commissioner Ganesh Shete, Deputy Commissioners Dr. Vaibhav Vidhate and Mangala Malve, City Planner Rajesh Kardile, Head of Solid Waste and Sanitation Anil Kokre, District In-Charge of Patanjali Kisan Seva Samiti (Panvel) Ravindra More, Sanjay Kumar Singh, District In-Charge of Patanjali Yuva Bharat (Panvel) Vikas Suryabhan Deshmukh, Pandit Ramkesh Sharma, Pramila Shashi Kumar Shetty, as well as several PMC officials, staff members, and local residents.
The significance of yoga in India’s ancient culture was emphasized during the program, highlighting its role in promoting physical and mental health. With yoga now recognized and practiced worldwide, June 21 is marked as International Yoga Day to spread awareness about its importance.

To mark the occasion, Panvel Municipal Corporation also organized a Yoga and Tree Plantation drive at Ward Committee A in Kharghar, reinforcing the vision of a clean, green, and healthy Panvel. A special rally was also conducted to promote the benefits of yoga and environmental conservation among citizens.
