The video shows woman on a call when the driver started recording her. This angers the woman, who tries to snatch the phone from him. She then says, “With whose permission are you making this video?” The driver responds by asking whom she is calling. At this, the woman removes one of her slippers and starts hitting the driver. She hits him multiple times, as seen in the video.
There has been a rampant increase in road rage cases in Bengaluru over the last several months. This incident comes weeks after an Indian Air Force officer was caught on camera assaulting a local IT professional before falsely claiming to have been attacked.
In the video, auto driver Lokesh claims the woman was riding in the centre of the road and that his vehicle never made contact with hers. He suggests that nearby CCTV footage could confirm his account. When a witness questioned why the woman was attacking the auto driver, she told them not to interfere and claimed the driver had verbally harassed her.
After the confrontation, Lokesh reported the matter to the Whitefield police. According to Deputy Commissioner Dr Shivakumar, an FIR was filed following Lokesh's complaint. The police official explained that the woman had allegedly accused the auto driver of hitting her two-wheeler before assaulting him.
The Whitefield police are currently investigating to determine what caused the dispute and whether any collision actually occurred between the vehicles. They plan to take appropriate action once their investigation is complete.
