Fasts and festivals have special significance in Hinduism. One of these is the Vat Savitri fast, which is especially observed by married women for the long life of their husbands and a happy married life. This fast is considered a symbol of female power, dedication and love. This fast is based on the story of Savitri and Satyavan, in which Savitri got her husband's life back from Yamraj with her penance and determination.

According to Hindu religious belief, the Vat Savitri fast is observed every year on the Amavasya date of Jyeshtha month. According to the Vedic calendar, the Amavasya date of Jyeshtha month will start on May 25 at 12.11 pm and will end the next day i.e. on May 26 at 08.31 am. Thus, according to the Udaya date, the Vat Savitri fast will be observed on May 26.
Do not make mistakes even unknowingly.
While talking to Local 18, priest Shubham Tiwari based in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand said that Vat Savitri Vrat is a sacred and revered festival, which is a symbol of women's power and marital love. The fruits of the fast and worship done on this day are obtained only when it is done with full devotion, rules, and discipline. On the day of Vat Savitri Vrat, women keep a fast and worship the Vat Vriksha (Banyan tree). This tree is considered a symbol of the Tridevas - Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh. On this day, women take a pledge to observe Nirjala Vrat and circumambulate the tree. But the full fruit of this holy fast is obtained only when it is done with pure conduct and following the rules. If some mistakes are made inadvertently in the fast, then its effect can be on the fasting person. Therefore, every married woman should follow all the rules carefully on this day.
Pay special attention to these things.
Avoid tamasic food
On the day of the fast, the consumption of tamasic things like meat, fish, onion, and garlic is prohibited. Only satvik and pure food should be eaten. Violating the rules of the fast leads to loss of virtue.
Do not wear black and blue clothes.
On the day of the fast, wearing red or yellow clothes is considered auspicious. These colors are symbols of energy and good luck. Black or blue clothes are considered a sign of negativity, so they should be avoided.
Do not behave badly even by mistake.
On this day, one should not speak harsh words or behave badly with anyone. Especially women should behave calmly, restrained, and lovingly on the day of the fast. The spirit of fasting is based on service, love, and devotion.
Stay away from impurity.
On the day of the fast, special attention should be paid to the purity of both body and mind. Take a bath in the morning and wear clean clothes and maintain mental peace before worship. Do not use mobile, TV, etc. while worshiping.

Do not be careless in the worship of Vat Vriksha.
While performing the worship, follow all the methods carefully. Circumambulate the Vat Vriksha 7 times, wrap the thread (raw thread) around it, and use the Puja material like fruits, flowers, lamps, whole rice grains etc. appropriately.
