In IPL 2025, Royal Challengers Bangalore have lost two out of five matches so far. Both these matches were played at Chinnaswamy Stadium, which is RCB's home ground. RCB's record on its home ground has never been good and the figures are testimony to this. The Bangalore team has played 93 matches at Chinnaswamy Stadium and has won only 43 of them, while the team has lost 45. One match was tied and four had no result. Now RCB mentor Dinesh Karthik has raised questions on the pitch of the home ground itself. He says that despite demanding a favorable pitch for batting, his team has got challenging pitches at Chinnaswamy Stadium this season. Earlier, Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ajinkya Rahane had also raised questions on the Eden Gardens pitch.

RCB team could not score runs in two matches at Chinnaswamy

Karthik said that the team management will soon talk to the curator in this matter. In the current season, RCB batsmen could not perform as expected due to the slow pitch. However, the batsmen of the team against whom they played were able to perform well. RCB team scored 169 runs for eight wickets against Gujarat Titans and 163 runs for seven wickets against Delhi Capitals.

'Not getting the benefit of home conditions'

Karthik believes that his team should have got the benefit of home conditions. Big scores have usually been made on the pitch here. Karthik said, 'In the first two matches, we had asked to prepare a good pitch, but we got such a pitch on which batting was challenging. We tried our best according to the conditions, but we had to talk to the curator. We have full faith that he will do his job well.'

'Similar pitch was found in both the matches'

He said, 'In both the matches, there was no pitch which was giving special help to the batsmen. It was challenging. So far, we have got the same pitch in both the matches played here.' Karthik said that long shots fours and sixes matter a lot in T20 cricket. He said, 'The nature of T20 cricket is such that the more runs are scored in it, the more the broadcaster will benefit and the fans will also be happy. They all want to see fours and sixes. We will try our best for what we can do.'

'No special blueprint prepared'
The former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman said that it becomes difficult for the batsmen to rotate the strike on the current pitch of Chinnaswamy. He said, 'On every pitch we try to understand what is the right way to play on it. I don't think we have prepared any special blueprint for this. It is important to understand the pitch and adjust to it, but on a pitch like Chinnaswamy, it becomes difficult to rotate the strike and it is not easy to play big shots. After all, it is T20 and you have to play some shots. In this process, your wicket can also be lost.'

Rahane had criticized the pitch.

Earlier, after KKR's big defeat to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Eden Gardens in the opening match of IPL 2025, Rahane had expressed his disappointment over the pitch used for the match. He had said that he expected to see a spin-friendly track at Eden Gardens. He said, 'We would have liked to see the pitch helping the spin bowlers, but for the last few days this wicket was inside the covers. We have two spinners each and given their quality, they can bowl on any kind of wicket and I am sure they are full of confidence.'

The pitch curator criticized the KKR team.

After this, pitch curator Sujan Mukherjee spoke to Revsportz. Sujan had said that he was not going to make any changes in the pitch and even gave the example of RCB spinners. He said, 'According to the rules of IPL, the franchises do not have any opinion about the pitch. The pitches here have been like this ever since I took over. It was the same earlier as well. Things haven't changed now and it won't change in the future either.'
