In a heartfelt plea that went viral on social media, industrialist Ratan Tata has called for help in reuniting an abandoned dog with its owner.
The 85-year-old, well-known for his love for animals, took to Instagram to share the story of a lost canine discovered at Sion Hospital in Mumbai. Tata's office found the young dog, wounded and alone, and has since taken responsibility for its care.
"My office has found an abandoned/lost dog last night at Sion Hospital, Mumbai. If you are his guardian or have any leads, please email reportlostdog@gmail.com with some evidence of ownership. Meanwhile, he is in our care and is being treated for his wounds,"
Tata wrote in a post that quickly garnered over 7.71 lakh likes and an outpour of support from the online community.
Touched by Tata's kindness, followers flooded the comments section, praising him as a "legend" and a "humanitarian." One user expressed, "You are an inspiration to dog lovers and those who care for the voiceless."
Another echoed the sentiment, saying, "This man keeps defining what ‘Humanity’ is at each and every stage of life. You’re an inspiration to a billion people. Respect to this legend."
This is not the first time Tata has come out to aid an animal. He previously urged people to be cautious during the monsoon season, reminding them to check under their cars for stray animals seeking shelter.
His advocacy for these voiceless creatures stems from genuine concern, as he emphasised the importance of preventing injuries to these vulnerable beings.
The entrepreneur has a special kennel for stray dogs at the Tata Group's global headquarters in Mumbai. Even in moments of personal recognition, like when he was to receive a lifetime award from Prince Charles, Tata prioritised his pets' well-being, skipping the ceremony to tend to his ailing dog, Tito.
