One person lost their life and three others sustained injuries after accidentally coming into contact with a high-tension wire while making preparations for a Muharram procession in Jharkhand’s Giridih district on Sunday, officials confirmed.
The mishap occurred around 11:30 am in the Chakosingha area, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Ghodthambha Police Outpost, located approximately 200 km from Ranchi, the state capital.
According to Giridih Deputy Commissioner Ramnivas Yadav, the incident happened when the top part of a ‘Tazia’ structure touched a live wire while it was being positioned.
“One individual died, and three others were injured when the Tazia made contact with a high-tension wire during the procession preparations,” Yadav stated.
An additional official mentioned that the injured have been admitted to a hospital in Giridih for treatment.
